Polymer Pipes
Polymer Pipes are a flexible item transport system. Route items between inventories with per-face configuration, filters, priorities, and four throughput tiers — all rendered server-side via Polymer.
Getting Started
Section titled “Getting Started”Craft a
Polymer Pipes Handbook from a
Book and a
Glass Pane for the full in-game guide.
Place pipes between any two inventories (chests, furnaces, barrels, machines) and they’ll auto-connect. Items flow through pipes visually — you can watch them travel from source to destination.
Per-Face Modes
Section titled “Per-Face Modes”Each pipe face (up, down, north, south, east, west) supports three modes:
| Mode | Color | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| NONE | Gray | Passive — items pass through but this face doesn’t extract or insert |
| INSERT | Blue | Pushes items into the adjacent inventory |
| EXTRACT | Orange | Pulls items from the adjacent inventory |
Cycle modes by right-clicking the pipe face with a
Pipe Wrench .
Pipe Tiers
Section titled “Pipe Tiers”Four tiers control how fast items travel and how many move per transfer:
| Tier | Items/Transfer | Tick Interval | Material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | 8 | 8 ticks | Iron Ingots |
| Gold | 16 | 6 ticks | Gold Ingots |
| Emerald | 32 | 4 ticks | Emerald |
| Diamond | 64 | 1 tick | Diamond |
Higher tiers are essential for high-throughput builds like auto-smelter arrays.
Item Filters
Section titled “Item Filters”Each pipe can hold a 9-slot filter in either whitelist or blacklist mode:
- Whitelist — only items matching the filter pass through
- Blacklist — items matching the filter are blocked
Filters use ghost slots — place an item to set the filter, then remove it. The filter remembers the item type without consuming it.
Priority System
Section titled “Priority System”Every pipe connection has a priority from 0 to 9 (default 0). When multiple valid destinations exist, items go to the highest priority first. Equal priorities distribute round-robin.
This lets you build overflow systems: set your primary storage to priority 9 and an overflow chest to priority 0.
Routing
Section titled “Routing”Pipes use BFS (breadth-first search) routing with a maximum of 64 hops. Items always take the shortest valid path to a destination that accepts them.
If no valid destination exists (all insert targets full or filter-blocked), items wait in the pipe until a path opens.
Pipe Wrench
Section titled “Pipe Wrench”The
Pipe Wrench is the essential tool for configuring pipes:
- Right-click a face to cycle its mode (NONE → INSERT → EXTRACT)
- Sneak-right-click to open the filter/priority GUI
- Projects an AR hologram showing active face modes and connections
Visual Item Transport
Section titled “Visual Item Transport”Items traveling through pipes are rendered as floating entities. You can see exactly what’s moving and where it’s going — useful for debugging complex pipe networks.
